Briefing Charts Busy Directors Will Actually Read
A short checklist for preparing workforce visuals for leadership rooms that have little patience for dense slides.
Directors rarely need twenty slides. They need one clear question, one chart that answers it, and a note about what the chart cannot say.
Lead with comparison, not decoration. Side-by-side site bars beat ornate radial layouts when the decision is where to hire next. Keep labels in plain language: role families your company already uses, not invented taxonomies.
Put the caveat near the chart. If seasonal contractors inflate a site in Q4, say so in the caption. Trust erodes when surprises appear only in the Q&A.
End with a decision prompt: hire, hold, or investigate. Charts without a next question become wallpaper.
